CYTOREON XXI CORP Partners with Technopark-BIOGEN to Establish Clinical-Grade Mesenchymal Stem Cell Manufacturing in Astana

CYTOREON XXI Corp., a U.S.-based biotechnology company specializing in stem cell and regenerative medicine, has entered into a strategic partnership with Technopark-BIOGEN to establish clinical-grade manufacturing of adult human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and mesenchymal stem cell–derived exosomes in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Through this collaboration, CYTOREON XXI aims to develop therapeutic applications and medical products that advance clinical research in anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating therapies. With more than a decade of experience in mesenchymal stem cell cultivation and exosome production, CYTOREON XXI is recognized as a leader in xeno-free stem cell manufacturing platforms and regenerative product development.

As part of its expansion into Central Asia, CYTOREON XXI plans to establish clinical-grade MSC manufacturing capabilities in Astana and to conduct clinical studies supporting the commercial approval of stem cell therapies in Kazakhstan, initially focusing on myocardial infarction (MI) and skin Photoaging.

“Stem cell therapies represent a new class of regenerative treatments that leverage the unique ability of stem cells to support tissue repair, modulate immune responses, and restore biological function,” said Dr. Daniyar Jumaniyazov, ND, PhD, CEO of CYTOREON XXI. “Unlike conventional pharmaceuticals that primarily manage symptoms, stem cell–based approaches aim to address underlying disease mechanisms by promoting regeneration and healing at the cellular level.”

Expansion into Exosome Manufacturing

The establishment of clinical-grade manufacturing in Astana will also enable CYTOREON XXI to produce mesenchymal stem cell–derived exosomes (MSC-Exosomes) for therapeutic and aesthetic applications.

MSC-Exosomes are nano-sized extracellular vesicles that function as biological messengers, carrying proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids that regulate cellular communication and tissue repair. Increasingly, exosomes are viewed as a cell-free therapeutic modality that captures many of the regenerative benefits of stem cells without the complexity associated with administering live cells.

In therapeutic settings, MSC-derived exosomes have demonstrated strong potential due to their:

  • Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity
  • Ability to reduce chronic inflammation
  • Support of tissue repair, regeneration, vascularization, and wound healing

In aesthetic and regenerative medicine, exosomes are gaining momentum as next-generation biologics for skin and tissue rejuvenation, with potential benefits including:

  • Stimulation of collagen and elastin production
  • Improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity
  • Accelerated recovery following dermatologic and aesthetic procedures
  • Reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress in skin tissues

Because exosomes are acellular, they may offer advantages over traditional cell therapies, including enhanced safety profiles, simplified storage and handling, and greater scalability.
